I groaned when Sen Dodd
announced for President. Yet another lifelong politician running for his/her next job while being paid for a full time job at our expense.
What other job do you get to neglect while getting paid for a full time job?
Dodd is #10 out of 100 Senators for missed votes according to a Washington Post article. Interestingly Joe Lieberman has learned his lesson and missed none. He used to have one of the worst voting records in the Senate while running full time for years on our dime. Even taking an apartment in New Hampsire . After being rejected for the 2nd time Nationally, Joe beat feet home and promised to be a good public servant and actually tend to the business he is being paid for.
Will Dodd repeat Lieberman’s course of events? Dodd is giving an outside chance at best, very outside chance. But hey, when you are an entitled son of Connecticut politics you get to indulge, right?
Dodd should do the right thing and QUIT his day job and indulge his fantasies on his time and his money not ours.
But he won’t, and want to know why? Because as the ranking member of the Senate Banking Committee he gets to oversee the workings of a sector that has a LOT of money, the Banks. Just like Willie Sutton said, “banks are where the money is”.
OUR Senator Dodd, has collected over $1,000,000 from the Banking and Securities industry in contributions. It’s good to be king!
Senator Dodd won’t quit for two reasons, 1st, His contributions would dry up and he’d have to raise money on pitching his ideas and convincing people he is Presidential material, and 2nd: Being Senator is the best job on earth and when he gets rejected on a National level he too will beat feet home and do the radio talk show circuit and promise to be a good Senator and we will forget by election time and re-elect our entitled favorite son, right?
Connecticut is a small state and we need all the representation we can get. Losing another full time taxpayer funded advocate is going to hurt.
