Of all the questions asked two were most revealing and the answers very telling.
1) How many of you send your kids to public schools?
Most said “no”.
2) How many flew here on private or chartered jets?
Most said “yes”.
These questions and answers to me highlight the vast gulf that exists between us the governed and them the governing. How much of a common experience of life in these United States do we share with these titans of government?
They sit in judgement of issues regarding public education, but most do not sent their kids to public education. If they did I have to wonder if we might see a more clearer, less influenced policy towards education.
Now Dodd did say his kids go to public school, but in all fairness they are in what? Pre-K and Kindergarden? I hardly believe his kids will stay in an ERG E school system, I would not.
They complain a lot about the “War on Terror”, yet do they get the same Homeland Security experience I get?
I travel a fair amount, I have to live with the Homeland Security procedures. Such as this dialogue at Bradley.
My feet beep when wanded during the checkin process.
Homeland Security: “Sir please take your shoes off, so I can wand them separately”.
Me: “They are sneakers there is no metal in them.”
Homeland Security: “Probably not Sir, but I need to check”.
Me: “Sure”.
The sneakers still beep when wanded.
Me: “I don’t get it”.
Homeland Security: “They always go off, there is metal re-bar in the floor, so all the shoes go off.”.
Me: Bite tongue must not comment ……………”Good day, Sir”.
Does Joe, or Chris, or Hillary or the guy all the way on the left get it?
My point is, they make rules for us. But they exempt themselves from those rules.
Just I discount Hollywoods cleb’s giving me advice on how to live I have to discount Federal Politicians deciding on how I should live.
Dodd wants to raise taxes on Corporations that emit carbon. Sure why not? That would be most levied against manufacturing plants, and they are all in China anyways.
