Trading hours for dollars, worst way to make a living.

29 August 2007

John Chow is a dot com mogul. He has made a lot of money. Generally I find him and his ilk un-sufferable.

However his post on why working “for the man” (my words) is the worst way to make a living is a good one. When you are trading yourself for the dollars, you soon realize you are a limited commodity. They aren’t making any more of you.

You can only sell yourself 8 to 12 hours a day.

Your upside potential is limited when you have an hourly rate in a day that only has so many hours.

Some of the issues with being a “wage slave” is:

You Are Taxed The Most

You Have The Fewest Tax Breaks

You Only Earn Dollars When You’re Trading

There Are Only 24 Hours In A Day

I hate the term “wage slave” but it is appropriate in this context. There is nothing wrong with honest work.

If you trade hours for dollar I would recommend you take a serious look at your situation. Look at how much the government is taking from you vs. what they take from corporations. How come my company, TTZ Media Inc only pays 17.5% tax on its income while you have to pay 50% if you made the same amount? What will happen to you and your family if you can no longer trade hours for dollars?

Another post in the same vein.

The only thing less profitable than trading hours for dollars is blogging for fun and profit.
