Taxes: Punishing Success, Rewarding Failure

1/3 of our economy is Government.

31 August 2007

In 1900 the Government (Federal and State) accounted for 8% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 1950 Government spending rose to 21% and in 2007 it will reach 32%.

Very close to 1/3 of our economy is based on Government spending. Since Governments make nothing and sell nothing, their money is raised off the productive labor of others.

Right off the top 1/3 goes to our public servants. What a terrible burden this is.

Social Security and Medicare alone will push that 32% to the upper 40s over the next fifty years.
