Nancy Pelosi Causes High Gas Prices
19 November 2007“With skyrocketing gas prices, it is clear that the American people can no longer afford the Republican Rubber Stamp Congress and its failure to stand up to Republican big oil and gas company cronies. Americans this week are paying $2.91 a gallon on average for regular gasoline – 33 cents higher than last month, and double the price than when President Bush first came to office. “With record gas prices, record CEO pay packages, and record oil company profits, Speaker Hastert and the Republican Congress continue to give the American people empty rhetoric rather than join Democrats who are working to lower gas prices now.“Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.”-Nancy Pelosi

Ridiculous? Yes, it is. Both blaming her and her blaming the Republicans.
But far be it for me to miss hoisting Ms Pelosi on her petard. It was a stupid statement for her to make then and it still is now. This is what passes for leadership today.
So, which is it? You were wrong then, or you were right, but you and yours can’t pull it off even with majorities in both houses?
So why don’t you, “crack.. down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies,”?
Or would that mean even higher gas prices?
The increasing price of oil and gold are related to the declining dollar. Now I keep reading that growing demands from China and India are also causing the rise in oil prices, but I don’t see it for a number of reasons.
We import oil and pay for them in dollars. So while the politicians and economists are telling us the declining dollar will help American exports and hence American business, here is the downside. Our gas is getting expensive and will continue to become more expensive till the dollar recovers.
Just image what the dollar’s decline is doing to other countries that don’t have significant exporting economies? What’s the old saying, “America sneezes and the world catches a cold”? At some point the world will start moving away from the greenback and move to other currencies such as the euro as the standard currency for oil trading.
This is the world check book balancing accounts. The world is floating in dollars and they don’t want them. There is a lot going on here, subprime mortgage mess, huge federal debt, huge personal debt and I don’t want to over simplify.
But I have to wonder if the declining dollar and it’s subsequent effects just won’t come to symbolize GWB’s legacy.
My solution? Go Nuke Now, In A Big Way. Buy Chevy Volts (Plug In Electric Car).
We already have the power distribution network, I have an electric outlet in my garage.
I’ts Green, I don’t believe in Man Made Global Warming, but I’ll use that argument on you.
It cleans up our geo-oil-political-policy. Let’s the “I want to live in the 7th century” crowd fulfill their dream. Abet just in the middle east and not here, in other words it enables us to stop funding terrorists.
It’ll help our balance of trade, by cutting down on importation of oil. Do wonders for the economy.
And it’s not corn. Did I ever tell you how stupid corn in my gas tank is?

Most people are to ignorant to understand that it is the democrats and “moderate” Republicans that are resposible for the high cost of energy for Americans. It is the democrats and their backers (Sierra club etc.) that screemed the loudest when it was proposed to drill for oil in Anwar, in the Gulf of Mexico, build new oil refineries etc. People do not understand that extremist left wing groups are dictating policy in the US. The thing I blame republicans most for is not uniting under the consertive banner. It is the “moderate” AKA liberal republicans that caused much of the proposed legislation under the formerly republican controlled congress to fail. There is no hope for us under democratic control. They will do nothing. Past history shows that. Wake up!

I can’t understand why Conservatives in strong (safe) districts didn’t push more/harder for new sources and refineries.
The environmental groups are very good, real good at demonizing anyone who opposes their no growth agenda.
Their have been some cracks in the environmental wall, several leaders have broken ranks and are admitting the world is not about to give up their modern lifestyles just because they say so. The co-founder of greenpeace and the co-founder of the greens are actually advocating nuclear power. Of course they are out in the cold now.
