Obama’s Ticket Balancer

The Junior Senator from Illinois, Obama needs some gravitas. He needs some weight on his ticket. He’s light on experience and knowledge of how things work, he talks real good, but that only goes so far.

He needs a Dick Cheney. He needs a Dick Cheney more than Bush needed a Dick Cheney. President Bush was a governor. A governor of a large state, with two houses, a budget, a National Guard, Social Services, Departments of Transportation, Taxation, Police, etc….essentially a mini-country. A mini-country that has a gross domestic product larger than Russia, Canada and Argentina. Texas has the eighth largest economy in the world.

Obama, was a community organizer and he talks real good.

Consequently I think this time around the VP slot needs to be chosen very carefully. Obama needs someone who has shown they can run something, like a state. Someone who knows which end of an Army points where. Someone who can kick some ass, because, he was you know a community organizer. Someone who knows how Washington works, maybe some who has completed a term of an elected office.

That someone in my humble opinion is Zell Miller. I think he is available. He would wrap up the Southern vote and give Obama some weight on the right side of things. Besides that the former Marine, would come in handy when dealing with the Congress, he could just be absolutely handy to Obama’s wife Michelle, she’s going to need some muscle.

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

How about Senator Miller? Ready to wade in to the breach once more?
