Obama and Clinton locked in a desperate battle for delegates are pulling out all the stops on champaign promises. Whatever fiscal restraint existed is now gone.
Obama has upped his plan to $300 Billion with $20.3 Billion in new spending. Giving a whole new meaning to “buying the race”, and this is the candidate of change?
Clinton has added $7.9 Billion, this amounts between the two of them a Billion Dollars A Day since the last accounting on January 29, 2008.
At this rate we’ll see an additional $225 Billion by election day. CAN WE MOVE THIS ELECTION UP A FEW MONTHS? WE ALL GOING BROKE HERE FAST!
I’m all for competition but please guys tone it down a bit. $300 Billion equates to $2,500 per taxpayer. Not only that, both Barack and Hillary have promised to not “renew” the risky Bush taxcuts. So add an additional $2,500 in there for good measure.
Feeling the Hope? Feeling the Love? Doesn’t it just make you warm and toasty inside?
Ok, pluzzzzeeeeee no more “change”.
Barack has proposed 34 new policies to increase spending, Hillary only 24.
The old guy, McCain, you know the one Barack and Hillary like to call “Bush III” has only proposed $6.9 Billion total in new spending, what a slacker.
And during the last budget vote in Congress, both Hillary and Barack voted against McCain’s proposal to ban all earmarks. The old guy just does not get it.
From the NYT:
Senator Barack Obama on Thursday released a list of $740 million in earmarked spending requests that he had made over the last three years, and his campaign challenged Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to do the same.
The list included $1 million for a hospital where Mr. Obama’s wife works, money for several projects linked to campaign donors and support for more than 200 towns, civic institutions and universities in Illinois
Kinda helps pay for her salary. Being a Vice President in all.
So far, Mrs. Clinton, a senator from New York, has resisted Mr. Obama’s call to release her earmark requests, and the skirmishing over the issue set off more tension between the campaigns.
“Bringing real change requires changing the way we do business in Washington,” said Robert Gibbs, Mr. Obama’s communications director. “If Senator Clinton will not agree to join Senator Obama in releasing her earmark requests, voters should ask why she doesn’t believe they have the right to know how she wants to spend their tax dollars.”
All right guys, you are starting to drink the kool aid here and maybe reading your own press releases, “bringing real change” oh, give me a break.
That is “change”? What arrogance.
I dunno, they seem awfully good at old style politics if you ask me.
In other cases, Mr. Obama’s requests benefited political supporters.
His campaign’s list said the senator had secured $1.3 million of an $8 million request in 2006 for a high-explosive technology program for the Army’s Bradley Fighting Vehicle. The list said the program was overseen by General Dynamics.
One of Mr. Obama’s top supporters, James S. Crown, serves on the board of General Dynamics, a military contractor. Mr. Crown is a member of Mr. Obama’s national finance committee.
Mr. Obama also secured $750,000 of a $3 million request for renovation of a space center named for Mr. Crown’s grandfather, Henry Crown, at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
How does one get on the finance committee? I’d like to apply.

I dont know why Republicans(and I am one) keep giving Obama and his surrogates a chance to harp on the cost of Iraq by bringing this up. Either him or his surrogates then point out the trillion and half dollar cost of Iraq, which brings out a cheer from the 80% of people, even Republicans, who realize what a mistake has been made.

I am not happy with the cost of Iraq. It was going to pay for itself, remember?
The cost however pales to the cost of American’s lost over there.
The History has not been written yet.
