Listening to Colin McEnroe Slowly Twist In The Wind

Every once in awhile a guest of sufficient gravitas happens on the drive home on WTIC-AM.

Tuesday’s turn was His Honor Ed Koch and the unfortunate topic was Colin’s pick for President, Senator Obama. His Honor is offended by the Senator’s church, the Senator’s weak denials and general all around waffling and his wife Mrs Obama.

His Honor was having none of Colin’s freshman debating tactics, with someone of His Honor’s weight you can’t shut them down and go to traffic or ask them “where’s the love, I’m not feeling much love here” in an effort to derail a conversation not going well.

Reminds me of the time he “interviewed” Bernard Goldberg and the next day, Tony Snow, both of whom taught Colin a lesson in manners and logic.

Turns out and I didn’t know this but His Honor was a Civil Rights Attorney and did work down south during the Civil Rights Movement and as a Jew he has known discrimination, but unlike Mrs Obama and the Preacher, His Honor is proud of this Country and he does not buy Obama’s original attempt at explanation that he didn’t hear it and was not there.

With creds like His Honor’s, freshman debating tactics don’t work and there wasn’t much love in the room. Colin’s weak defense of the in-defensible, “I think this is what he meant”, or of Mrs Obama’s comments, “If I was an African-American I could see her point”, well you are not and His Honor dismissed these attempts with a simple, “I don’t think so”. And the discussion was over.

Colin’s best line was to point out that His Honor is a Hillary supporter, in an attempt to deflect the relentless line of logic from Ed Koch. It didn’t work.

Later when dealing with an elderly woman, Colin felt more at home giving her a lesson on Catholic doctrine, saying, “It’s like that Catholic Church, the people sit there and listen how bad birth control is, then go home and use it”, at which the woman replied, “I am Catholic”. Colin replied, “there you go, listen next time”, and off to traffic he went.

Have you ever seen so many flags behind Obama????? This from a man who will not wear a flag pin and whose wife is not proud of her Country and whose Preacher yells out, “G*DD*MN AMERICA”. Precious. That’ll play well in middle America.

Oh, the Audacity!

The “conversations” in quotes are my recollection of the conversation. I don’t believe I got the quotes verbatim, nor did I try. The gentle reader is invited to go to the WTIC1080.com website and listen to a pod cast of the “interview” and form their own opin.

   I generally leave my AM radio on 1080 until 3PM. At that time, I switch to some other show. Can’t stand the man.

   I can’t decide if it is an act to get callers, or if this is really all he’s got?

   Either way, what a waste of air time.

   When you listen to Dan L over at WDRC he is a gentleman and gets his point across without any childish behavior.
