Chris Dodd, Nationally Pathetic
3 October 2008It is not the best time to be Chris Dodd, once falsely thought to have national stature, he has been hard at work to dispel that notion.
His fall from grace started with his chairmanship of the Democrat National Committee, during the Clinton years and the election of Bill Clinton to his second term, Senator Dodd was DNC chairman. The Buddhist temple fund raising and other scandals caused Senator Dodd to go underground for years and was rarely heard or seen in his home state of Connecticut.
His fall from grace has been steady since then. His recent high profile during this Banking crisis would normally been seen as a time to shine on the National Stage, however when you have been Banking Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee it merely high lights your epic failure of oversight.
Coupled with his high profile run for President, in which he proved his inconsequence on the National Stage by spending millions in donations from those Banks he was supposed to be regulating and garnering but one delegate. It is best to be thought influential then run and fail and remove all doubt.
Undoubtedly moving to Iowa was a desperation move, risk it all, to save his Presidential campaign. Betting big like that and losing big only further cemented his diminishing stature. (the photograph is of Chris’s daughter Grace going to Iowa school)
Followed quickly by his betrayal of the Clintons by endorsing Barrack, nobody respects a move like that.
Followed quickly by his embarrassing “pick me, oh Barrack pick me” run at the Vice Presidential nomination. In which he send all his papers and finances to the Obama team for vetting. In probably the wisest move that Obama has made yet in who to associate with, Obama declined the Dodd albatross and went humorously with Biden. (You realize of course, Biden is probably the first person Obama has hired!)
His statement at the start of the Banking Crisis that the bailout bill of his financiers would address only the bailout and would not be allowed to be loaded up with favorite / earmarking amendments further proved his impotence when it was finally released at over 400 pages. Including a bailout provision for NASCAR. Who knew NASCAR was in trouble?
And of course he is neck deep in his own mortgage mess, with his favorite person deals from yet another company he was supposed to be regulating. Dodd has yet to make a full accounting of the sweetheart deals that you or I could not get.
Dodd nailed it when he proclaimed on National Television that the crisis was a failure of regulation, yes, it sure was.
The best Dodd can do now is act outraged while standing behind his bud Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi.
We think of many things Senator Dodd has failed at, can we think of ONE thing Senator Dodd has done for Connecticut?
We are a small state with a small congressional delegation. Our diminishing population will probably result in another lost congressional seat. We need all our representatives working for us and the state of Connecticut not for themselves.

The financiers are snookering us again. We, the taxpayers, will never see that money once Congress caves in to special interests, (as usual). If we try to get it back by taxing these businesses, then they will take the good parts of their portfolios and flee to other countries. Suckers!
If we use that money to enhance social security, then all of the retirees that lost their retirement funds in the stock market will at least be guaranteed a reasonably comfortable retirement. (The only ones who will still be unhappy are the ones trying to retire to their mansions.)
Finally! Congress has found the money to make social security work.
Let Congress know that if they get fooled by this bailout, then the only thing for voters to do is punish congress the way it was punished for the gulf war.

Why, oh why, can’t the Connecticut GOP find a decent candidate to run against this idiot?
