In our last update on our report on the influence of religious right lobbyists on Congress, we identified nine issues of concern to our readers: immigration, the HHS contraception mandate, LGBT anti-discrimination protections, the Endangered Species Act, the First Amendment, the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA), the Second Amendment, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), the Violence Against Women Act and the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act. Today we continue the conversation with Rep. Ken Calvert and state Rep. Will Rollins of Ohio, who have also been identified on the list of the top 100 most influential congressmen by Capitol Weekly.

Rep. Calvert is a member of the House of Representatives Ways & Means Committee. Rep. Rollins is a member of the Judiciary Committee, and therefore has jurisdiction over many issues affecting the lives of LGBTQ people, including hate crimes and domestic abuse.

Rep. Calvert

Calvert, who represents a district that includes parts of Cleveland and Akron, is a member of the Judiciary Committee. He was elected to the House in 1992 and re-elected in 1996. As a congressman, he focuses his committee work on economic issues, transportation and energy, as well as health, education, and small business issues. He is also a member of the House Small Business Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee.
