Suspicious device found at a Toronto airport has been disarmed and 2 people are in custody, authorities say.
Toronto Police reported the suspicious device on a Jetway Tuesday, but the device was found to be harmless when it was disarmed.
“It was a harmless item that was reported to have been thrown out of a vehicle and we have been able to deactivate it,” police spokesperson Const. Brian Montopoli told reporters.
The device appeared to have a laser scanner attached to it, but police said it was not the device police were looking for. The people suspected of throwing the device out of a vehicle were arrested, he said.
Toronto police tweeted a photo of the person suspected of throwing the device from a vehicle into the airport.
Police said the laser scanner appeared to be from a package delivery service of some kind.
Police said no other devices are believed to have been found.
